Day 16: Something New
Living on the Gold Coast, we are lucky enough to have places to visit like Seaworld and their new attraction Penguin Encounter.
To be honest, I didn’t really know what to expect when I walked in to the icy cold exhibit but once I saw 3 Gentoo penguins playing in their pool I knew it was love at first sight. Little did I know that up a ramp and around the corner was going to be a sight that would make me never want to leave. In a scene set like a mini Antarctica was more Gentoo penguins and the most amazing King penguins I have ever seen. Actually, I had never seen one in real life before. The only word that came out of my mouth was…AMAZING!
They were as much intrigued with us as we were with them. They would walk in a line in front of us and then stop as if to show us all their glory and glorious they were. They would sit for a couple of minutes so we could have a really good look at them and then they would walk off in a line back to where they were sitting previously. We got to see them being fed and we also could to experience the fun that the Gentoo penguins have flying out of the water, running around the other penguins and then diving back in to the water shooting through at lightening speed. There were a few near mishaps with the King penguins letting their smaller counterparts know that they weren’t too fond of nearly being bowled over.
If you ever get the chance to, you MUST visit Seaworld to see these amazing creatures up close and personal!
