Prostate Cancer Awareness Month

November is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and this cancer not only targets men but also dogs, unfortunately like my beautiful boy Jordan.

About 8 months ago our lives were shattered when we given the news that Jordan not only had prostate cancer but an adrenal tumor and hepatitis on the liver. Basically he’s a ticking time bomb.

Most of the literature I have read say to have your dog desexed at a young age…we did, and that the dog wont survive 30 to 90 days, we are so fortunate to have hit 8 months. I’m not saying it has been easy road, oh boy it hasn’t all. I am on a first name basis with the vets, nurses and admin staff at the specialist centre, I’m basically a shareholder of the company and now I can tell what every sign and symptom Jordan shows means.

Surgery can be performed but at 13 years of age there are so many risks involved and he may not even make it off the table. It breaks my heart to know that this cancer can spread quickly but our main aim now is to keep him as happy and comfortable as possible.
