Winter Wonderland

I absolutely adore Winter. It is my favourite time of year. Being able to wear coats, scarves and boots, snuggling up in front of the television with a blanket (and in my case always includes the cat), turning on the heater or sitting in front of an open fire and experiencing thick smog and rain. Coming from a city which turns on the coldest of cold in Winter, I always get excited when June comes around every year.

This year the Gold Coast has finally become the “Cold Coast”. In the 12 years that I lived in this wonderful city, I believe that this is the coldest Winter we have experienced so far. Most days are still sunny but come the afternoon the sun goes down and the cool air starts to hit like ice. Perfect! I get to put on my scarf and turn on the heater as I drive home from work šŸ™‚

This week I was fortunate enough to visit Sydney and it put on the cold weather. The only issue with being in Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide cold people tend to turn on the central heating which means that you are in and out of cold especially if you are not in the one place all day. I found that one minute I was cold then warm then hot then cool then cold.

Yesterday morning it hit me. I was tired, I was irritable and by the afternoon my throat was dry and sore. From the lack of sleep, fast pace and excitement of it all the one negative aspect, in my view, of the cold finally caught up with me and now I have a cold šŸ˜¦ and now the cold and flu tablets have become my best friend. Even though I kept the Husband awake last night with all “the unique little noises” I was making last night, I am still determined to kick it and enjoy my favourite time of year!

What is your favourite season of the year?

  1. I loved hearing about your exciting time in Sydney – (I enjoy “Fast Eddy’s” style of cooking – simple, quick and delicious)…Regards the weather, I simply detest winter, summer won’t come quick enough for me. I agree with you it has been unusually cool on the Coast this winter, good for those of you who delight in the ‘depths of wintertime’.
I’ve had a very enjoyable morning, went to Max Brennars with my Granddaughter who is 5 years old today, my how time flies, it just seems like yesterday we were all agog with the excitement of her birth.

I hope Kobe is keeping well,

    Elizabeth.

  2. I must be the only person who loves Winter šŸ˜› Sydney was fantastic and I was able to try San Churro which is like Max Brenner but specialising in Churros (Spanish long donuts) my husband makes them for me but these came with dipping chocolate pots. We agree that Max Brenner and San Churros need to merge šŸ™‚
Kobe is doing well but wrapping my husband around his little claws and demanding to go outside all the time. When I got home I wondered why his litter tray hadn’t been used and it was because he was going outside…I found the evidence in the garden šŸ˜› He is loving the chicken mince!
Did you end up getting to the Robina butcher?
